Marie-Anne oysters – mycelium for outdoor and indoor cultivation
Marie-Anne oysters are a vigorous and productive variety known for their beautiful beige caps, tender texture, and excellent adaptability. Their mycelium quickly colonizes different substrates and allows for multiple harvests under good conditions.
At Les 400 Pieds de Champignon, our blocks can be used as seed to inoculate outdoor substrates or for direct fruiting at home.
Outdoor propagation (recommended method)
Our mycelium blocks can be used as seed to inoculate wood chips, mulch, logs, or outdoor beds. This method allows the mycelium to spread naturally and produce mushrooms when conditions become favorable.
Use as outdoor seed
Recommended materials
Untreated hardwood chips
Clean straw or natural mulch
Shaded and moist area

Steps
1) Prepare the area
Choose a cool, shaded spot, protected from direct sunlight.
2) Spread the substrate
Place a first layer of slightly moistened chips or straw.
3) Add the mycelium
Break the block of mycelium into pieces and spread the seed evenly over the substrate.
4) Cover
Add a second layer of chips or straw to retain moisture.
5) Keep moist
Water as needed to keep the substrate moist, especially during dry periods.
Results
The mycelium will gradually colonize the outer substrate and can produce several flushes of mushrooms during the season.

Oyster mushrooms Marie-Anne
Difficulty: Beginner
Thermal shock: 12 to 24 hours at 4 °C recommended
Fruiting temperature: 16 to 22 °C
Primordia formation: 5 to 8 days
Time before harvest: 3 to 5 days
Humidity: 90%
Fruiting guidelines
1) Block preparation
When the mycelium is ready to fruit, place the block in the refrigerator for 12 to 24 hours to stimulate mushroom production.
Using a clean, sharp knife, cut an "X" about 15 cm on the side of the bag. Then fold the bag behind the block to eliminate excess air.
2) Maintain humidity
Mist the exposed surface 2 to 3 times a day to maintain high humidity until the primordia appear.
3) Harvest
Mushrooms will generally be ready to harvest a few days after they appear.
Maintain good humidity throughout the growth to obtain well-developed oyster mushrooms with a nice texture.
Important notes
A block can produce 3 to 4 harvests depending on the conditions.
Continue to water the same incision after each harvest.
Subsequent harvests will generally be a bit smaller than the first.
Harvest the entire clusters by gently detaching them at the base.
Even if mushrooms appear elsewhere on the block, continue using the initial opening.
